Resi Soccer Recap

The fall sports season is ending, and the boys varsity soccer team showed their skills on the field. They put energy and performance into their games. Senior Mang Tuang said, “There are many challenges, but we are getting used to the team members. It has been a while since we played together; however, it gets better with more games.”

Resi has a strong record of winning all of their games except one. Many players shined and performed well. Junior Aquila De Carvalho has scored the most goals, and one of the most influential was in a game against Long Reach, which resulted in Resi winning 5-1. Even though some games were close, the varsity boys fought to victory. The game against Atholton motivated the team because Reservoir lost to them last year in the regional semi-final. The varsity team beat Atholton 2-1 in an away game.

Soon they faced Mt. Hebron High School and lost with a score of 3 to 0 at home. The Hebron players were defending well, which led Reservoir to lose its five-game winning streak. Junior Graham Laery said, “The Centennial game was great fun. Nobody thought we would beat them; however, we played well as a team.” Reservoir won three games against Centennial, Oakland Mills, and Wilde Lake High Schools. On Thursday, Sep 29, 2022, the team lost against Glenelg High School with the final score of 2-1, with an overtime goal.

The varsity team record this season is 8-2, including non-regional teams too—furthermore, the best away record was winning all of their games away from home. With only a few games left this fall season. As always, the upcoming season will be different with the new players moving to varsity. However, they will continue their hard work on the pitch as always.
