Howard County Outdoor Track & Field Championships

This past Monday and Tuesday, the Track & Field team competed in the Howard County Championships!  We had some amazing performances!  The boys team finished 4th in the County and the Girls finished 8th.  Below is a breakdown of personal best marks and those who placed (Top 8) in the County Championships!

Please congratulate these athletes!  We have had such a great season with tons of improvements across the board.

Here is a quick summary and a few facts of the events on Day 1:

  • 100m Dash:
    • Edwin Ekeinde and Xavier Maple both qualified to the finals
    • Kani’a Dozier and Mecca Jackson both qualified to the finals
  • 100m Hurdles:
    • Anjola Adejumo ran 19.78s and finished 10th.
    • Kaydence Grier ran a personal best time of 20.10s and finished 12th. Only a freshman!
  • 110m Hurdles:
    • Brandon Mulira qualified to the finals with a time of 16.89s.
  • 200m Dash:
    • Xavier Maple qualified to the finals with a time of 22.25s.
    • Kani’a Dozier qualified to the finals with a time of 26.57s.
  • 4 x 200m Relay:
    • The Girl’s team of Kan’a Dozier, Avery Oergel, Cambel Howard and Lily Pendleton ran 1:47.61, which is a season best mark! They finished 5th
    • The Boy’s team of Xavier Maningault, Destin Hill, Xavier Maple, and Edwin Ekeinde ran a season best of 1:27.95. This is the third fastest time in Reservoir History and only .3s off the school record!
  • 4 x 800m Relay:
    • The Boy’s team of Kidus Zeleke, Sirak Nephtalem, Drew Cline and Misimi Arowosegbe ran a season best time of 8:37.05.
  • Girls Discus Throw:
    • Ella Davidson threw the disc for the first time and had a great opener with 68ft 1in and finished 8th overall at the County Championships!
    • Sitabelle Nkeh threw a personal best throw of 48ft.
  • Boys Long Jump:
    • Zaiden Meadows jumped a season best of 18ft 2.25in.
    • Timmy Nguyen jumped a personal best of 18ft 6.5in
    • Destin Hill, jumped a HUGE jump of 22ft 8.75in. He not only won the County Championships, but he also broke the County Championship MEET Record.  He is ranked #2 all time at Reservoir and is only 2 inches of the school record.
  • Boys Shot Put:
    • Darius Burnside threw a HUGE personal best of 37ft 5.5in. He is currently ranked 19th all time at Reservoir!  But he is only a junior and this is just his first year throwing!

Here is a summary of Day 2 and a few fun facts to go along with it:

  • 100m Dash:
    • Edwin Ekeinde finished 5th in a time of 11.09s. His personal best time is 10.97s.  He currently #9 all time in RHS History.
    • Xavier Maple finished 6th in a time of 11.29s. His personal best time is 10.86s and is ranked #3 all time in RHS History.
    • Kani’a Dozier finished 5th in a time of 12.82s. Her personal best time is 12.45s and is ranked 5th all time at Reservoir.
    • Mecca Jackson finished 7th in a time of 12.88s. Her personal best time is 12.56s and is ranked 7th all time!
  • 110m Hurdles:
    • Brandon Mulira finished 7th overall with a time of 17.17s. His personal best time is 16.67s.
  • 200m Dash:
    • Xavier Maple finished 3rd overall with a time of 22.38s. His personal best time is 22.17s and is ranked 5th in Reservoir History.
    • Kani’a Dozier ran a personal best time of 25.83s and finished 2nd!
  • 300m Hurdles:
    • Anjola Adjumo ran a personal best time of 51.37s and finished 7th overall!
    • Jack Murphy ran a personal best time of 43.76s and finished 10th
    • Darius Williams (Only a sophomore) ran a personal best time of 44.88s and finished 14th.
  • 400m Dash:
    • Alex Lee, only a sophomore ran a personal best time of 53.16s. He is the second fastest sophomore in Reservoir History!
    • Elijah Main ran a personal best time of 54.27s
    • Mecca Jackson ran a HUGE personal best time of 58.44s and WON the Howard County Championships! She currently has the second fastest time in Reservoir HISTORY!
  • 800m Run:
    • Jake Han, ran a personal best time of 2:20.41!
    • Vijay Maheswaran ran a personal best time of 2:13.81.
    • Drew Cline ran a huge personal best time of 2:02.69. He is ranked #10 all time at RHS and is the second fastest sophomore in RHS history (only .24 off of the fastest overall sophomore time).
  • 1600m Run:
    • Scarlett Guenin ran a personal best time of 5:36.92! She is only a sophomore and is the fastest sophomore in Reservoir history and is ranked #12 all time in RHS history.
    • Will Snoots ran a personal best time of 5:09.28!
  • 3200m Run:
    • Kidus Zeleke ran 10:14.91 and finished 4th place overall. He has a personal best time of 9:49.28 and is ranked 4th all time in RHS History.
  • Boys Discus Throw:
    • JP Gnassounou threw a huge personal best of 106ft 7in. He finished 12th  JP ranks 16th overall in RHS History.
    • Ryan Betts threw 142ft 3in, and finished 2nd place! He has a personal best throw of 147ft 2in and ranks #4 all time at RHS.
  • Boys Pole Vault:
    • Isai Saenz finished 8th and tied his PR of 8ft 6in.
  • Girls Shot Put:
    • Sarah Alashi threw a personal best of 20ft.
    • Jeslyn Annan threw a personal best of 17ft 7in.
  • Boys Triple Jump:
    • Jilil Landon, only a sophomore, jumped a personal best of 37ft 2.75in. He is the 9th best sophomore in the event in RHS History.
  • 4 x 100m Relays:
    • The Girls Team of Mecca Jackson, Kani’a Dozier, Avery Oergel and Shelby Foulks ran 50.21s for 3rd place!
    • The Boys Team of Xavier Maple, Edwin Ekeinde Destin Hill and Ryan Betts finished 2nd in a time of 42.28s. They broke the school record earlier this season with a time of 41.99 and still have the states leading time.
  • 4 x 400m Relays:
    • The Boy’s Relay of Kameron Greir, Mismi Arowosegbe, Elijah Main and Xavier Manigault ran a season best time of 3:33.89. They finished 6th overall!
    • The Girl’s Relay of Anjola Adejumo, Lily Pendleton, Avery Oergel and Scarlett Guenin ran 4:26.26 and finished 8th.

We are back in action on Wednesday, May 17th @ 4:30pm and Saturday, May 20th @ 10:00am right here at Reservoir High School.  The 3A East Regional Championships are being hosted here and the athletes would love your support!
