Best Buddies Halloween Celebration

Reservoir’s Best Buddies Club held a Halloween-themed event for its buddies and peers to socialize and decorate pumpkins. The organizers had a food drive during the event to collect canned goods.

Best Buddies board member Sameera Chaudhry said, “The student response has been outstanding. We have more buddy pairs this year than we have had in a few years, which we are excited to see.”

The Best Buddies Club is Reservoir’s chapter of the International nonprofit organization that works to carry out the group’s message. The International organization connects individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with peers to foster connections and provide resources. At Reservoir, Best Buddies wants to do just that and ensure that all students feel a strong sense of belonging.

Best Buddies President Emily Meadows said, “Our main goal is to promote inclusion within our school community. Reservoir celebrates diversity and is a place for everyone, and Best Buddies is trying to do just that. Best Buddies creates a safe space for everyone and anyone within our school community. I hope Best Buddies shows everyone that they have someone to lean on and that nobody should feel isolated.”

As the year continues, the group hopes to see continued engagement from the school community in its events and meetings. Follow @rhs.bestbuddies on Instagram for updates on their upcoming activities and ways to get involved.
