RHS Alumnus Cody Morris Joins Cleveland Guardians<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Former Reservoir student Cody Morris made his debut in Major League Baseball at 25 years of age with the Cleveland Guardians as starting pitcher. Cody\u2019s teammate Zach Plesac was sidelined due to an injury after punching the mound, which left him with a broken hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Adam Leader, Physical Education teacher, and varsity baseball coach, said, \u201cI was super emotional because I have known Cody almost his entire life. He is a hard worker, humble person.” Mr. Leader drove to Cleveland after he received the message, and he watched Cody Morris play in his debut game. Cody remains in contact with Mr. Leader and texts regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Leader said, \u201cA very small percentage of people get to do what he\u2019s doing now.\u201d During his tenure at Reservoir, he won Howard County Pitcher of the Yea<\/em>r three times. One of his performances in a Resi uniform was the 2014 championship game against North Harford High School with a 2-0 result, which led Reservoir to win their first state championship title in 2014. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Leader said that during that season, \u201cHe was a gifted athlete. He had a gifted arm, and he played really well. After the victory, he was the same\u2026 super humble. He didn\u2019t put himself on a pedestal and came to practice like everyone else.\u201d Morris was the 223rd pick in the 2018 MLB Draft from South Carolina. He played in the Minor league from 2019 to 2021, but the 2020 season was canceled from COVID-19. After many injuries, he is working to stay healthy, according to the Baltimore Sun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cI think sometimes it takes a little while to figure it out, and going from triple-A to the pros is a big difference. He’s a really smart person, a really smart baseball player. He has a strong work ethic. He is someone who is going to continue the work, and I think he will perform really well at this next level.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
