Boys Varsity is doing an exceptional job this season with a record of 18-4 and 17-4 in the county, ranking them 2nd in all of Howard County, right behind River Hill High School. JV baseball is no push, too, with their record being 14-3, so expect great things coming from the end of the regular season to the end of the playoffs from both baseball and softball teams. However, Varsity Baseball’s record was 3-5 and ranked 7th in the county in 2020. That didn’t stop them from making a deep playoff run, though, beating teams like Hammond and River Hill. Even though this was during Covid-19, and not everyone was comfortable with going back to an in-person setting, it’s a big difference in their performance this year. It doesn’t affect the softball team last year as they were 9-0 and ranked 2nd in the county, keeping their winning streak rolling. Even JV Softball is doing pretty good with them being 6-4. Currently, they are 16-3 and County champions and continuing their winning season.

After an interview with Madison Falby, a Varsity Softball player, this is her take on their performances. After being asked about the reason for her success this season, she said, “My success this season definitely [is because of] how my energy is with my teammates.” Madison also implied that their coaches are the reason for keeping the team in check, saying, “I feel like this is a team effort.” As the season ends for both Softball and Baseball, both teams are regional champions as Varsity baseball beats Long Reach 9-3. In the regional championship game, the Gators killed the hill, winning 4-3 in a 12-inning thriller to claim their title. After that, they advanced to the state playoffs and defeated Northern High School 9-2. Sadly Varsity Softball had lost their playoff game against Wilde Lake High School 7-5. Even though they did fall short, it does show their dedication and teamwork as a whole. As the Varsity Baseball team will end their season soon, we expect great things to come to the end.

Reservoir’s Baseball and Softball teams have returned to killing it this season.
