His parents, Najme and Seema, immigrated to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Davis,_California\">Davis, California<\/a>, where Minhaj was born and raised.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minhaj attended the University of California, Davis, where he majored in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Political_science\">political science<\/a>. In addition to English, he is fluent in Hindi and Urdu.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minhaj&#8217;s one-man show, <em>Homecoming King<\/em>, debuted <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Off-Broadway\">Off-Broadway<\/a> in October 2015.He later turned the show into his first stand-up special, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hasan_Minhaj:_Homecoming_King\"><em>Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King<\/em><\/a>, which premiered on Netflix on May 23, 2017.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>March 2018, Netflix announced that Minhaj would host his own weekly show on the platform.
