{"id":1631,"date":"2023-05-10T12:37:40","date_gmt":"2023-05-10T16:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gatorgazette.rhsgators.com\/blog\/?p=1631"},"modified":"2023-05-10T12:40:00","modified_gmt":"2023-05-10T16:40:00","slug":"howard-county-outdoor-track-field-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gatorgazette.rhsgators.com\/blog\/howard-county-outdoor-track-field-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Howard County Outdoor Track &amp; Field Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>by Philip Rogers, Track and Field Coach<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This past Monday and Tuesday, the Track &amp; Field team competed in the Howard County Championships!&nbsp; We had some amazing performances!&nbsp; The boys team finished 4<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;in the County and the Girls finished 8<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp; Below is a breakdown of personal best marks and those who placed (Top 8) in the County Championships!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please congratulate these athletes!&nbsp; We have had such a great season with tons of improvements across the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a quick summary and a few facts of the events on Day 1:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>100m Dash:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Edwin Ekeinde<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Xavier Maple<\/strong>&nbsp;both qualified to the finals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kani\u2019a Dozier<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Mecca Jackson<\/strong>&nbsp;both qualified to the finals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>100m Hurdles:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Anjola Adejumo<\/strong>&nbsp;ran 19.78s and finished 10<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kaydence Grier<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a personal best time of 20.10s and finished 12<sup>th<\/sup>. Only a freshman!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>110m Hurdles:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Brandon Mulira<\/strong>&nbsp;qualified to the finals with a time of 16.89s.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>200m Dash:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Xavier Maple<\/strong>&nbsp;qualified to the finals with a time of 22.25s.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kani\u2019a Dozier<\/strong>&nbsp;qualified to the finals with a time of 26.57s.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 x 200m Relay:\n<ul>\n<li>The Girl\u2019s team of&nbsp;<strong>Kan\u2019a Dozier, Avery Oergel, Cambel Howard and Lily Pendleton<\/strong>&nbsp;ran 1:47.61, which is a season best mark! They finished 5<sup>th<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Boy\u2019s team of&nbsp;<strong>Xavier Maningault, Destin Hill, Xavier Maple, and Edwin Ekeinde<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a season best of 1:27.95. This is the third fastest time in Reservoir History and only .3s off the school record!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 x 800m Relay:\n<ul>\n<li>The Boy\u2019s team of&nbsp;<strong>Kidus Zeleke, Sirak Nephtalem, Drew Cline and Misimi Arowosegbe<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a season best time of 8:37.05.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Girls Discus Throw:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ella Davidson<\/strong>&nbsp;threw the disc for the first time and had a great opener with 68ft 1in and finished 8<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;overall at the County Championships!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sitabelle Nkeh<\/strong>&nbsp;threw a personal best throw of 48ft.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boys Long Jump:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Zaiden Meadows<\/strong>&nbsp;jumped a season best of 18ft 2.25in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Timmy Nguyen<\/strong>&nbsp;jumped a personal best of 18ft 6.5in<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Destin Hill,<\/strong>&nbsp;jumped a HUGE jump of 22ft 8.75in. He not only won the County Championships, but he also broke the County Championship MEET Record.&nbsp; He is ranked #2 all time at Reservoir and is only 2 inches of the school record.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boys Shot Put:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Darius Burnside<\/strong>&nbsp;threw a HUGE personal best of 37ft 5.5in. He is currently ranked 19<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;all time at Reservoir!&nbsp; But he is only a junior and this is just his first year throwing!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a summary of Day 2 and a few fun facts to go along with it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>100m Dash:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Edwin Ekeinde<\/strong>&nbsp;finished 5<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;in a time of 11.09s. His personal best time is 10.97s.&nbsp; He currently #9 all time in RHS History.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Xavier Maple<\/strong>&nbsp;finished 6<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;in a time of 11.29s. His personal best time is 10.86s and is ranked #3 all time in RHS History.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kani\u2019a Dozier<\/strong>&nbsp;finished 5<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;in a time of 12.82s. Her personal best time is 12.45s and is ranked 5<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;all time at Reservoir.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mecca Jackson<\/strong>&nbsp;finished 7<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;in a time of 12.88s. Her personal best time is 12.56s and is ranked 7<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;all time!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>110m Hurdles:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Brandon Mulira<\/strong>&nbsp;finished 7<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;overall with a time of 17.17s. His personal best time is 16.67s.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>200m Dash:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Xavier Maple<\/strong>&nbsp;finished 3<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;overall with a time of 22.38s. His personal best time is 22.17s and is ranked 5<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;in Reservoir History.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kani\u2019a Dozier<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a personal best time of 25.83s and finished 2<sup>nd<\/sup>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>300m Hurdles:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Anjola Adjumo<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a personal best time of 51.37s and finished 7<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;overall!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jack Murphy<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a personal best time of 43.76s and finished 10<sup>th<\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Darius Williams<\/strong>&nbsp;(Only a sophomore) ran a personal best time of 44.88s and finished 14<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>400m Dash:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Alex Lee<\/strong>, only a sophomore ran a personal best time of 53.16s. He is the second fastest sophomore in Reservoir History!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Elijah Main<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a personal best time of 54.27s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mecca Jackson<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a HUGE personal best time of 58.44s and WON the Howard County Championships! She currently has the second fastest time in Reservoir HISTORY!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>800m Run:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jake Han,<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a personal best time of 2:20.41!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vijay Maheswaran<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a personal best time of 2:13.81.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Drew Cline<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a huge personal best time of 2:02.69. He is ranked #10 all time at RHS and is the second fastest sophomore in RHS history (only .24 off of the fastest overall sophomore time).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1600m Run:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Scarlett Guenin<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a personal best time of 5:36.92! She is only a sophomore and is the fastest sophomore in Reservoir history and is ranked #12 all time in RHS history.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Will Snoots<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a personal best time of 5:09.28!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3200m Run:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Kidus Zeleke<\/strong>&nbsp;ran 10:14.91 and finished 4<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;place overall. He has a personal best time of 9:49.28 and is ranked 4<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;all time in RHS History.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boys Discus Throw:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>JP Gnassounou<\/strong>&nbsp;threw a huge personal best of 106ft 7in. He finished 12<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp; JP ranks 16<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;overall in RHS History.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ryan Betts<\/strong>&nbsp;threw 142ft 3in, and finished 2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;place! He has a personal best throw of 147ft 2in and ranks #4 all time at RHS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boys Pole Vault:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Isai Saenz<\/strong>&nbsp;finished 8<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;and tied his PR of 8ft 6in.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Girls Shot Put:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sarah Alashi<\/strong>&nbsp;threw a personal best of 20ft.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jeslyn Annan<\/strong>&nbsp;threw a personal best of 17ft 7in.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boys Triple Jump:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jilil Landon<\/strong>, only a sophomore, jumped a personal best of 37ft 2.75in. He is the 9<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;best sophomore in the event in RHS History.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 x 100m Relays:\n<ul>\n<li>The Girls Team of&nbsp;<strong>Mecca Jackson, Kani\u2019a Dozier, Avery Oergel and Shelby Foulks<\/strong>&nbsp;ran 50.21s for 3<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;place!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Boys Team of&nbsp;<strong>Xavier Maple, Edwin Ekeinde Destin Hill and Ryan Betts<\/strong>&nbsp;finished 2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;in a time of 42.28s. They broke the school record earlier this season with a time of 41.99 and still have the states leading time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 x 400m Relays:\n<ul>\n<li>The Boy\u2019s Relay of&nbsp;<strong>Kameron Greir, Mismi Arowosegbe, Elijah Main and Xavier Manigault<\/strong>&nbsp;ran a season best time of 3:33.89.
